Meeting growth with modern grading technology

Over the past few years, Greenfield has experienced strong growth in egg volumes, driven by increasing consumption and industry consolidation. This growth placed increasing pressure on existing grading capacity.

“Our existing graders were over ten years old, running on outdated technology with limited automation,” says John Mohan, Managing Director at Greenfield. “Combined with growing labor challenges, investing in new grading equipment became a necessity.”

To support continued expansion and modernize operations, Greenfield invested in a GraderPro 600 as part of a highly automated grading line.

Why SANOVO?

Greenfield carried out a thorough evaluation before selecting SANOVO as their partner.

“When we engaged with the SANOVO team, it was very evident that they were genuinely interested in putting their best foot forward,” says John Mohan. “After visiting reference sites in Europe and the US, it became clear that SANOVO had invested heavily in grading technology.”

Several features stood out during the evaluation, particularly the CIP (Clean-in-Place) system, which represented a clear step forward compared to Greenfield’s previous equipment. The ability to clean more consistently, with less manual intervention, was seen as a major operational advantage. In addition, the three exit gates for Class B eggs and the overall automation level supported both efficiency and labor optimization.

A Trusted Partner

“The confidence we got from dealing with the SANOVO team—from sales and project management through to senior management—was decisive in choosing SANOVO.”

Close collaboration from planning to start-up

The project was characterized by close cooperation from the early planning phase. SANOVO conducted several site visits and held regular meetings ahead of installation.

While the installation phase included challenges related to logistics and third-party software integration, these were addressed through strong coordination and transparent communication.

“No stone was left unturned to resolve the challenges we faced,” John Mohan notes. “The professionalism of the mounting team and the daily updates during installation were invaluable.”

Fast ramp-up and reliable operations

After start-up, the new grading line quickly became a stable part of Greenfield’s daily operations. Close technical cooperation during the initial phase ensured that early adjustments were handled efficiently, allowing production to ramp up smoothly.

“This meant that any early issues were addressed quickly, resulting in very limited downtime,” says Mr. Mohan. “Our own team was brought up to speed fast, which allowed us to take full ownership of the operation in a short time.”

Operator training also contributed significantly to the successful ramp-up.

“The training proved invaluable, and the knowledge gained played a key role in the success of this project.”

With the first installation running successfully, Greenfield is now preparing for the next phase of its expansion, with a second GraderPro line expected to be commissioned in the spring of 2026. SANOVO looks forward to continuing the partnership and supporting Greenfield’s future growth.
