Revolutionizing Egg Processing with Reverse Osmosis Technology

For EiVita Austria KG the replacement of their existing Ultrafiltration to a Reverse Osmosis machine has further reduced the energy usage in their production processes. By increasing the dry matter concentration of liquid egg whites from 22% to 33%, the RO system has significantly reduced the energy required for water evaporation in the spray dryer. This enhancement has led to a 43% reduction in energy consumption for drying Egg White Powder.
In addition, by going from the Ultrafiltration to Reverse Osmosis technology, EiVita has reduced the waste of dry matter in the permeate water resulting in a +2% higher powder output. All in all, energy savings, reduced labor cost and increased yield is translating to an annual cost reduction of € ~ 180.000.

The impact of RO technology extends beyond energy savings and increased yield. By pre-concentrating liquid egg before drying, EiVita has experienced a remarkable 75% increase in drying capacity for the egg white dryer, allowing them to scale production without additional investments in infrastructure. This capacity boost ensures that the production process runs smoothly even during peak demand periods while optimizing resource allocation.
Moreover, the advanced RO system ensures consistent, high-quality egg powder output, thanks to its gentle handling of liquid egg whites and precise dry matter control.
